J. Richard is an artist and writer currently based in San Francisco. Their work interrogates affective states as they relate to identity and the structures creating queer and fat subjects as others. Within their practice they make sculptural objects through assemblage and use craft techniques such as embroidery, crochet, sewing, and printmaking to understand queer longing and melancholia. In their written work they interrogate the fat body through the lens of mess understood via post-structural and queer theory. Unfortunately, they have a dual MFA and MA from California College of the Arts. Their work has been published in publications and shown in art shows without much cultural clout.
